So pet lovers are aware, during this unprecedented stay-at-home order and the rapid threat of COVID-19, the state of Texas has designated veterinary services as a discipline that is an “essential service.”
This means if your pet needs care, he or she is sick, requires vaccinations, medications, emergency treatment or even preventative care such as heartworm or flea medication, services remain available.
Urban Animal Veterinary Hospital is here for your companion animal’s healthcare needs. What we would discourage at this time are treatments that are not essential such as a cosmetic nail trim or a groom. The same can be said for an elective cosmetic surgical procedure such a bump that’s been on your cat or dog’s side for two years unchanged.
Should you have a question about whether your pet’s need is essential or can wait, please call us and let us help you prioritize.
For the safety of our staff and our pet owners, we will have all appointments wait in an air-conditioned vehicle and call us when you arrive.
Our staff will safely take your companion animal inside for his or her needed treatment plan.
If you are having COVID-19 symptoms such as coughing, shortness of breath or a fever over 100.2 degrees F, please see if another person is available to bring in your pet.
And please call us with any questions. This is a unique and challenging time. Your pet’s health along with the health of you and our staff is our top concern!
And please join me in thanking all the Urban Animal team members that are coming in assist in providing quality care to your animal companions!
